Getting to the Fire Training Unit

The Fire Training Unit is located in Upinniemi, Kirkkonummi, in the Upinniemi garrison area at the address Upinniementie 1075, Kirkkonummi. Hae Googlen reittiohje Here.

NOTE! Course participants must wait in the car park outside the garrison gate. The instructor will pick up the whole group 10 minutes before the course starts. Other visitors can drive directly to the gate following the instructions below.

Driving directions using a car navigator:

Older car navigators do not recognise the route all the way to Meriturva’s address. In that case, enter the address Upinniementie 950, Kirkkonummi. Drive ahead to the garrison gate, report to the military police, and immediately after the gate turn right to the Fire Training Unit. Parking is located behind the training building.

Driving directions from Helsinki:

Coming from Helsinki, drive along Länsiväylä (road 51) to Kirkkonummi. Exit road 51 at the Upinniemi junction. Follow the signs to Upinniemi until you reach the garrison gate. Report to the military police and immediately after the gate turn right to the Fire Training Unit. Parking is located behind the training building.

Driving directions from the Survival Training Unit in Lohja:

Take the Hanko-Hyvinkää road 25 and turn towards Helsinki. After a couple of kilometres you will come to an exit to Siuntio. Follow the signs for Siuntio and drive through the village of Siuntio. Soon after the church village you will come to a T-junction, turn right and after about 500 metres turn left.

Drive through Siuntio to the end of the road and at the T-junction at the end of the road, turn onto road 51 towards Helsinki. Exit road 51 at the junction to Upinniemi. Follow the signs for Upinniemi until you reach the garrison gate. Report to the military police and immediately after the gate turn right into the fire training unit. Parking is located behind the training building.

Driving directions using a car navigator:

Older car navigators do not recognise the route all the way to Meriturva’s address. In that case, enter the address of Harju Sports Centre Runokatu 1, Lohja. Urheilukeskuksen luota seuraa Meriturva-opasteita perille n. 0,7 km.

Driving directions from Helsinki:

Coming from Helsinki, drive along motorway E18 towards Turku, turn towards Lohja at the Lempola interchange (no. 23), and you will arrive at a roundabout.

Continue from the second exit of the roundabout along road no. 25 towards Hanko for about 4 km, until the road becomes two-lane and you reach the road sign for Harju Sports Centre, where you turn right (see the top image on the right).

100 metres further on there is a roundabout; take the second exit to the sports centre. Then turn left immediately and follow the Meriturva signs to the destination, about 0.7 km (see the second image on the right).

Driving directions from Turku:

Coming from Turku, drive along motorway E18 towards Helsinki and turn towards Lohja at the Lempola interchange (no. 23), arriving at a roundabout. From here, continue as when coming from Helsinki (see the instructions above).

Driving directions from the Karjaa–Virkkala direction:

Coming from the Karjaa–Virkkala direction, exit the Hanko–Hyvinkää road (no. 25) to the right following the signs for Harju Sports Centre (see the bottom image on the right), under the Hanko–Hyvinkää road and up the hill for about 0.5 km, then take the third exit from the roundabout to the sports centre. Turn left immediately afterwards and follow the Meriturva signs. The destination is about 0.7 km away.

Driving directions from Lohja town centre:

If you drive to Lohja town centre or come from the Sammatti direction, turn onto Kauppakatu and, right at its start, turn left onto Vuorisenkatu. Drive up Vuorisenkatu to the top of the ridge to a roundabout, where the first exit on the right leads to Harju Sports Centre and the Meriturva signs. The destination is about 0.7 km away.

Getting there by bus:

When arriving by bus, get off at Lohja bus station. Walk about 350 metres along Kauppakatu to the northeast, turn right onto Koulukatu, which soon becomes Vuorisenkatu. Walk up Vuorisenkatu to the top of the ridge to the roundabout, about 650 metres. The signs leading to Meriturva are on the right. About 700 metres of walking remain along the sports field.
