Occupational Safety Card Training

Occupational safety card training (or an Occupational Safety Card course) provides basic knowledge of potential hazards in the working environment and occupational safety and health in the workplace. A safety card is issued on successful completion of the training. Occupational safety is valid for five years at a time, after which the one-day occupational safety training course must be repeated.

Occupational Safety Card® is a nationally harmonised training course for familiarisation with safety at work in a common workplace. The aim of the safety card training is to make safety at work a central part of the common workplace.

Occupational safety card training

  • improve practical cooperation in joint workplaces between contracting and supplying companies
  • support job coaching in common workplaces
  • provide basic information on occupational safety and health
  • reduce duplication of training by different subscribers
  • arouse interest and motivation in workplaces to improve the safety skills of their staff
  • aims to reduce accidents, incidents and harmful stress at work

The safety card training courses organised by different bodies focus on safety at work in different areas. Meriturva's safety training focuses on working on board ships and in ports. The safety card training focuses on both physical and mental safety at work.

Benefits of occupational safety training

By identifying the different hazards and stress factors at work, you can also protect yourself against them. Changing conditions in the workplace require constant observation and the ability to reassess work tasks to prevent hazards from arising.

After safety training, workers will be better able to identify the mental or physical safety hazards associated with each job.

Safety card training has improved workplace safety and significantly reduced dangerous and even fatal incidents.

A safe workplace is everyone's right. The aim of the occupational safety card training is to increase your knowledge of how to anticipate risks. The aim of the training is for workers to go home healthy at the end of their shift and to maintain their ability to work. Occupational safety card training is organised for all sectors, and the Centre for Occupational Safety and Health trains occupational safety instructors for different sectors.
